How to cook a steak

One of the many frustrations when ordering steak out, is that you can not guarantee it is cooked to your liking. Each chef will have a slight difference in cooking times. This is of course partly down to the fact, that they cook multiple meals at once so are continuously timing different meals. Nonetheless, getting your steak right at home shouldn’t be hard. Here is a guide on how to cook the perfect steaks.

Obviously if you cooking a thin steak, you will want a lesser time but this guide is based on thicker cut steaks such as ribeye and sirloin.

Cooking Times

Blueย 1 Minute each side

Rareย 1 1/2 minute each side

Medium Rareย 2 minutes each side

Mediumย 2 1/4 minutes each side

Well doneย 4 minutes each side

How to cook:

I always use a good griddle pan. It must be and any oil used such as sunflower oil, spitting. Bring your steak to room temperature and season each side with salt and pepper. Once the griddle pan is hot, cook your steaks.

Once your steak is cooked, allow it to rest for a few minutes on a plate.

Steak in photo is well done.
