How to poach an egg

Poaching eggs are something that scare people but they are actually easier to do than you think. It is about timing and freshness. Below is a tutorial on how to poach an egg.
Top tip
Only use fresh free range eggs. Eggs that are not fresh will split and not poach well.
How to poach an egg:
- Fill a large saucepan just over a third with cold water.
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Add a tablespoon of white wine vinegar and bring the water down to a steady simmer.
- Crack the eggs into individual small bowls. Gently pour them into the water and poach for three minutes.
- Remove the eggs with a slotted spoon and allow the water to drain through the slots.
If you like your yolk hard, then poach for a couple more minutes.

Rebecca R. Norris is a full-time freelance writer living in the DC metro area. She writes for a variety of publications, covering everything from beauty and wellness to style and celebrity news. When she’s not writing, she can be found out and about with her Jack-Chi, Cash, sweating her way through an Orangetheory class, or taking it easy with family and friends. Most of the time, it’s one of those ingredients that cause irritation or allergic reactions. My personal favorite clean non-toxic beauty brands are ILIA and bareMinerals and both of them have great eyeliner options. The best waterproof eyeliner for sensitive eyes is the ILIA Clean Line Liquid Liner and the bareMinerals Mineralist Long-Lasting Eyeliner. Pencil, gel, liquid, felt tip – finding the best eyeliner for you depends on the look you are going for and how your skin reacts. Why not watch the video series below with Arianne and Margaret for even more tips as they discuss the best way of applying eyeliner as we get older.

While it suits me and looks freaking adorable when I travel, the bags don’t hold up to a ton of repeated use — the zippers break, the plastic rips across the seams. I’m a major Glossier stan and so the pile is constantly replenishing itself, but still. It’s time for a more permanent solution. Convinced you wouldn’t dare tote your cosmetics case out on the street? Well, then you haven’t got one of these chic AF options. From textured picks to bold doodles to smaller versions of must-have designer bags, these makeup containers are meant to be shown off and not packed away in an overnight bag. Plus, some have extra compartments for stowing cash, credit cards or even your makeup.
